Beginners Guide to Racing
The HSCC was created in 1966. In 1978 a collection of non championship races were hosted as the forerunner to the first Post Historic Road Sports Championship year which kicked off in 1979. It was aimed at the man in the street, at a time when it was still possible to race your daily driver at the weekend. The idea was to provide a home for standard versions of the factory racers that had thrilled the large crowds of a bygone era. To this end some minor modifications would be permitted, but in essence the cars had to remain in their production specification. Extra points would be awarded for those who drove their race cars to and from the meetings, a tradition which is still upheld today.

The founder members were Barry Thorne - SP250 , Peter Dixon - HSCC Chief registrar - Ginetta G4 and Jeremy Hall - Lancia Flaminia, who took on the role of Championship Registrar.
